Capacity & replacement
Each filter is rated for up to approximately 400 litres. Alkanatur guidance commonly equates this to around 3–4 months of typical use, although actual life depends on household consumption and incoming water quality.
Water characteristics
The filter is designed to reduce specified contaminants while conditioning the water with alkaline mineral media. Alkanatur product information references a typical filtered-water pH range of approximately 8.5–9.5; actual pH and ORP vary with source water, temperature, filter condition and measurement method.
Contaminant reduction
Alkanatur publishes certification and laboratory information for its filtration technology covering specified contaminants and test conditions, including chlorine, fluoride and selected metals and other substances. Results from certification or laboratory testing should be interpreted according to the exact test method, influent concentration and filter capacity rather than as a guarantee for every water supply.

Preparing a new filter
- Remove the new filter from its packaging.
- Immerse the filter in water for approximately 15 minutes before first use.
- Fit the filter securely into the Alkanatur jug reservoir.
- Follow the jug's current start-up and flushing instructions before drinking the filtered water.

Step-by-Step Instructions
- Soak and Activate the Filter:
- Fill the pitcher or a bowl halfway with tap water.
- Submerge the filter for about 20 minutes (you can place the water tank on top of it so it does not float) to let it release internal air bubbles
- Install the Filter in the Tank:
- Remove the filter and empty the pitcher.
- Place the filter tank on a stable, flat surface (do not push it in while it is inside the transparent jug, to avoid cracking it).
- Insert the filter with the grill facing up and the small hole facing down, pressing it firmly into place until it sits flush at the bottom of the tank.
- Flush the First Cycles:
- Place the assembled tank into the jug and fill it completely with tap water from the sink.
- Let the water filter through completely and discard the first 2 to 3 full batches of water (you can use this initial flush water for your plants).
- Note: The water may look slightly grayish or black during these first runs; this is completely normal and comes from the natural coconut active charcoal.
- Assemble the Jug:
- Put the reservoir and lid back onto the transparent pitcher.
- Your jug is now ready, and you can start drinking the water from the 4th cycle onward for the best taste.
